cardi progress

The cardigan is "finished". It's been drying since its bath yesterday morning.

I still think I'm pleased, but that might be because I haven't tried it on yet. I'm hoping the blocking with add a little length to the sleeves and a little width to the body, though it was hard to judge how much needed to be added because the I-cord edging curled so much.

Next steps:
Finding zipper
Finding thread
Slapping them on the sweater

denver trip

Last week, we hauled ourselves and our car to Denver. On the way back, we stopped at Bryce Canyon. It was coooold, but very pretty.

bryce, overview

We took the only trail that was open. At the end, we were greeted by royalty.

Can you see Queen Victoria?

Then we took a trail that was closed. I won't go into the details, but let's just I wasn't happy. However, it was by far the most beautiful part of the park.

is it still wednesday?

For those who haven't heard of Nigella Lawson, here's a taste of
her latest column. I'm not sure why, but she always sort of seemed like the Zimmermann of cooking for me. Albeit a sexy, sulty Zimmermann. Maybe it's just her Englishness (like how she uses the verb 'plonk' to describe a cooking technique) and the fact that she writes cookbooks rather than simply providing recipes. Who knows. I'm a fan. You probably need a subscription to the NYT to see this. You should have one anyway, if for nothing else than her every-other-Wednesday column. I apologize to the vegetarians in the audience. Maybe you shouldn't click.

Regrettably, I purchased a knitting book at Michael's. In my defense, it was $5 new. If that doesn't speak of its popularity, I don't know what does.
